This was our first trip to Asheville, NC and we were blown away by the mountain views. Visiting the south in August, I knew I needed to bring pieces that I would be able to breathe in (although I still needed to take shade and water breaks while we explored). The Emerson skirt from Tuckernuck (now on sale) is light, airy and adorable and I paired it with this linen flutter sleeve top. I found this sun hat at Nordstrom Rack (it’s now under $10!) which was perfect for this hot, sunny day. While these gold lace up sandals are adorable, they don’t provide any support. I was not prepared for all the walking we ended up doing this day! I found them at J.Crew years ago but you can find a similar style here and ones with stars on them here and here.
We spent the day touring the luxurious Biltmore House and Gardens, previously home to the Vanderbilts. Touring the Biltmore House was so much fun, despite how hot and stuffy it got in some of the rooms..they do their best by placing huge fans all over. It feels much more like an castle than a house and it would be great to come back to see the house decorated decadently for the holidays. The rooms are elegant and exquisite and the classic balcony overlooking this incredible view of the mountains was a perfect place to relax… I was ready to move right on in!
I felt like Belle from Beauty and Beast walking into the library. I was ready to get up on a rolling library ladder and start singing, “Bonjour!” The gardens are beautiful as well and we loved walking between the tall trees and along the trails leading towards the pond.
If you visit Asheville, you have to visit the Biltmore House and Gardens – you will not be disappointed. Stay tuned for more about our trip to Asheville!
