Growing up on the east coast, I have so many memories searching for the perfect pumpkin and wandering the orchards looking for the biggest and best apples. This year was my first time apple picking in the mid-west and we found an adorable orchard in Wisconsin called, Apple Holler. Between pig races, pony rides, an apple cider barn and a goat bridge, this place was a full on family fall production! Not to mention, the apple cider donuts were seriously the best we have ever had!
Luckily the weather was cool enough to pull out my J.Crew burgundy faux fur vest (on sale and more sizes here)that I have been coveting since it was released (look out for sales!). It was hard to decide between all the colors – navy, blush, and even leopard print, but ultimately my heart was sold on the burgundy because it is my favorite color to wear as the weather gets cool and the holidays grow near. I loved this vest instantly because it is cozy and soft. The gold details of the zipper add a little flare too.
I just purchased these jeans from LOFT – they are amazing. They are stretchy, soft, comfortable, and so flattering! Under the vest, I wore this cute black sweater blouse also from LOFT (also look our for sale codes, they have major deals!)
As I mentioned, I grew up on the east coast in New Jersey (you can learn a little more about me here) and every year my friends find a weekend in October to have a fall celebration in Connecticut. We go apple picking, bake tons of apple crisp, have a pumpkin carving contest, and watch Hocus Pocus while drinking wine and playing board games late into the night. Being in Chicago now, I was so sad I couldn’t make it out for this year’s fall packed weekend so Robert wanted to recreate a little of the magic here. We put our freshly picked apples to use and baked a delicious apple crisp for the family! It was a huge hit so I think I need to bake some for Thanksgiving now…
